P52 - Week 23

I had a very fun opportunity to photograph a couple of young MMA competitors that work out at Windy Sport & Fitness with us. One such athlete is this young lady, a proud member of Team Bailout MMA:

She's getting ready for her next bout in July. She trains hard and, personally, I would not want to have to stare her down from across the cage. I wish her the absolute best in this match and hope it is the spring board for many more!

P52 - Week 18

last week is one I would largely like to forget, but one good thing to come out of it was a lot of template editing. I am hosting a photo day with our friends at Windy Sport & Fitness later this month, so to get ready, I worked on these samples:

Some of these you may have seen before, while others are making their debut for this photo shoot. All of them were picked to highlight the great kids and adults working their tails off at Windy Sport & Fitness.

P52 - Week 3

I have spent the week in editing heaven ... at least 3 memory cards bursting with pictures just begging to see PhotoShop from the inside out. But I must confess, I have spent most of my week looking at one particular memory card ... the one I filled last Sunday with our good friend Bobby & his lovely lady, Whitney.

Bobby & Whitney are celebrating their first year together. So we concocted a plan involving a stroll through the TAMU campus, hitting all of their favorite spots, with a final wrap up back at Windy Sport & Fitness, since Bobby is another of the fine staff there.

But the weather makers didn't feel the time was right for an afternoon on campus. Instead, they delivered wet, grey, and dreary. What's a photographer to do?

In this case, we decided that simple was better. We met up at Windy where the weather is always nice and the rain outside could keep splashing away.

It turned out to be just what the doctor ordered. Inside the familiar walls of Windy, we were all able to relax, laugh, and enjoy a little 'together time'.

Happy Anniversary, Bobby & Whitney. I wish you many more happy years together.

better than caffeine

What do YOU do when you need to stay awake?

Personally, I like a steady supply of ice-cold caffeine disguised as a Dr. Pepper. I can't stomach coffee. Love the smell of the stuff, but hate the way it tastes. And I'm afraid the caffeine isn't as easily absorbed by the body through the olfactory system.

Dr. Pepper certainly tickles my taste buds better than a cup of Joe, but it's got an awful lot of empty calories that go along with it (& goodness knows I don't need THAT).

So what's a gal supposed to do when she's monitoring a seriously long running job through the wee hours of the morning and needs to stay awake?

Well ... this girl opens up Photoshop and hunts up new ways to play with pictures! I've been terribly remiss on photographing my own family this summer due to work schedules. But last Friday I took off a few hours and lugged my camera to my boy's Muay Thai kick boxing class. I got a few snaps I liked, so each night this week when I needed to keep my mind from drifting off into La-La Land, I tried playing around with some new designs.

and THIS is what I came up with:

and

I have another late night tonight (& maybe the next night as well).

Who KNOWS what I'll have to show for it afterward!

alpha female

Yes, I'm still plowing through the mountain of photos I took at Windy last month. This time, I'm featuring a young woman who is set to be the face of Windy Sport & Fitness of College Station. Ms. Tina agreed to be their model for the day and soon you will see her featured on their website in a variety of looks.

Tina is a super sweet young woman and beautiful to boot, but don't let the pretty face fool you ... she packs quite a punch (and don't get me started about her kicks)!

I really enjoyed getting to work with an incredible athlete like Tina. And she's as fun as she is beautiful!

Thanks for playing along, Tina!

Coach Brook

This week has found me, once again, struggling with my day job. Lack of sleep and just plain carelessness on my part made my efforts more of a struggle than necessary. But in the end, I came out OK. One project (at least) crossed off of my to-do list and a content client to boot. Add to that the fact that I actually learned how to do a bunch of new things and I guess things aren't as bad as I sometimes make them out to be. And heck, in this economy I should probably just be relieved I have a job about which to complain.

But what has that got to do with photos or collages?

It's the same old story really ... when I'm stressed at my paying job, I turn to a creative effort to pull me out of my funk. There is just something truly relaxing to me about playing with pictures. It's just that ... PLAY. I let my mind go. It doesn't matter how strange the idea may seem at first. And it doesn't matter if it pans out on the screen. It's PLAY after all.

I am still wading my way through the 3 full memory cards I filled up featuring the fine folks at Windy Sport & Fitness. So far, you've been introduced to Mr. Jermaine and Mike "the Truth" Jackson, but we still have at least 3 more Windy representatives you haven't met yet! The next to be featured is Little Man's Muay Thai coach, Mr. Brook.

We've had the pleasure to know & train alongside Coach Brook for well over a year at least. He's become another great friend and he brings a lot of fun and enthusiasm to any training situation. For me, one of the most important things he's done is to share his enthusiasm (as well as knowledge) with my little guy. Logan simply LOVES his muay thai class and he thinks Coach Brook hung the moon. Brook's fervor for training is downright contagious and Logan seems to have a terminal case. But you won't find me complaining about THAT!

So ... are you ready for me to stop rambling and make the necessary introductions?

Meet Coach Brook, Muay Thai Master at Windy Sport & Fitness in College Station:

I hope you like these Brook! You were fun to photograph and I hope I get the chance to do this on a regular basis. :)

About This Blog

I'm a proud mom of a very active little boy. I have truly enjoyed the opportunity to document the many milestones throughout his life so far. These moments are precious to me. So I grabbed a camera and snapped away. I dabbled a bit in scrapbooking and took some time to learn at least the basics of photography. After all, kids grow so fast and you can't turn back the time.

But as he got old enough for school and team sports, I was so very disappointed in the offerings out there. I'm proud of my All Star in every thing he pours his heart into!

So I picked up a copy of Photoshop and tried my best to create momentos to capture these memories.

I'd love a chance to help you stop time for a moment as well.
