P52 - Week 52

For my final photo of the year, I am sharing a shot that I didn't actually take (though I did set the camera first):

Big thanks go to my better half for snapping this image of my mom and I. It's rare enough for me to come out from behind the camera, but doubly so to find mom and I together in the same frame.

I am so very thankful that she and Bubba and his family were able to make the trip up here for the holiday. And I can think of no better image to finish off this little challenge.

P52 - Week 50

Just a quick look at my Wonder Boy helping me set up for a holiday shoot with friends.

Hey Santa!

OK. So it's 95 degrees outside with 80% humidity. Probably not exactly the picture of a 'winter wonderland' ... not even for Texas. In fact, I'm still (not so) patiently waiting for the first good cool front to usher in fall.

But despite the oppressive heat, I've got Christmas on my mind. I think my mind starts to drift to the holidays as soon as school starts each year. There's something about getting back on a schedule, into a new routine that has me looking further and further ahead on the calendar.

It's no secret that I dig the holidays. In our house, celebrations start with birthdays in October, followed by Halloween, next comes Thanksgiving, and we wind things up with Christmas and New Years all jammed in together. Once the party starts in October it doesn't seem to slow down until January.

So ... along those lines I have started playing around with holiday card designs for 2010. I even put holiday tunes on my iPod to create the right mood for the design process. Here is a sneak peek at the first few designs ...

1. Joy to the World

2. Family Tree

3. Snowflakes

4. Ho! Ho! Ho!

To go along with new designs, I'm also announcing our 2010 Holiday Mini-Sessions Special...

Book a session before October 24th and get a half hour shoot with as many as 5 people, up to 10 low resolution images for email and Facebook, and 25 - 5x7 cards with envelopes for a special low rate. (NOTE: Sessions can be booked for dates up to and including November 14th. They just need to be on the schedule before October 24th.) Email or call for pricing.

To keep track of other new designs as well as a review of previous year designs, check out our Holiday Card Gallery.

Forget what the calendar says, let's have a little festive fun RIGHT NOW!

'Tis The Season

HO! HO! HO! Jingle Bells! and all that jazz. :)

I mentioned a while back that my mind had turned to Christmas already. We don't like to wait for Christmas at our house. And really, why wait? Christmas is that special time of year when so many of the pesky, petty problems of life get pushed aside for a while for something greater - why not make that come a little sooner; last a little longer. It brings out the best in us. And it does my heart good.

So ... with that said ... I'd like to unveil this year's Christmas card designs. I still have a few more under construction, but I didn't want to wait any longer for this special preview!

Hurry now to schedule your session or send in your photos. All orders MUST be received before December 1st.

About This Blog

I'm a proud mom of a very active little boy. I have truly enjoyed the opportunity to document the many milestones throughout his life so far. These moments are precious to me. So I grabbed a camera and snapped away. I dabbled a bit in scrapbooking and took some time to learn at least the basics of photography. After all, kids grow so fast and you can't turn back the time.

But as he got old enough for school and team sports, I was so very disappointed in the offerings out there. I'm proud of my All Star in every thing he pours his heart into!

So I picked up a copy of Photoshop and tried my best to create momentos to capture these memories.

I'd love a chance to help you stop time for a moment as well.
